Houthi rebels slay women, children in Saada

SANA'A, Sep. 05 (Saba) - Houthi rebels have killed six women and 10 children in Thwaib village in Haidan district of Saada government, state-run 26sep.net said on Thursday.

Local source in the governorate told the website that the rebels have killed the victims by shooting them in heads and necks for their cooperation with the government.

The source said that the rebels have looted the citizens' belongings in the village.

The Houthi loyalists have taken the children from their families forcibly to fight in their side, or else they and their families will be killed.

Worth to mention is that Saada citizens have formed popular resistance committees in a number of villages and districts to defeat the al-Houthi loyalists of outlaws and saboteurs.

Local sources in Saada governorate said that Al-Houthi rebels have hindered developments and reconstruction efforts in the province and destroyed the infrastructure in the governorate as well as committing several crimes against the innocent citizens in Saada.

Al-Houthi rebels have been launching intermittent wars against the troops since 2004.

The wars have killed thousands of people, soldiers and insurgents in Saada province, which located close to borders with Saudi Arabia, after the rebel group was founded by rebellion's leader Hussein al-Houthi.

Hussein, the eldest brother of the current group leader Abdul-Malik, was killed by the army in September 2004.

The Yemeni government accuses the Houthi group of trying to reinstall the rule of imams, which was toppled by a republican revolution in northern Yemen in 1962.

omoros announces Yemenia plane black boxes damaged

PARIS, Sep. 05 (Saba) - Head of the Comorian side announced here on Saturday that memories of the two black boxes of the Yemenia Airbus A310 jetliner, was flying from Yemen to the Comoros Islands, had been damaged.

Talking to media, the Comorian official, head of the Yemeni, French and Comorian joint committee for investigating the Yemeni plane which crashed off the coast of the Comoros, said that after opening the records and drying the memories the investigations revealed the damages of these two memories during the crash incident.

The committee started on August 31 to read the plan's two records in the investigations headquarters and in the presence of the committee's members, he added.

The committee's head mentioned that the committee now is to extract data, affirming it is not possible to present any explanation of the cause of the crash till now.

The Yemeni Higher Committee for Aviation Incidents follow-up made clear on Tuesday that a number of specialized technicians coming from the USA representing the black boxes' manufacturing company are to arrive to France to prepare the damages.

An official source in the joint committee told Saba that a representative from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and another from the US manufacturing company of the crashed plane's engines will participate with the Yemeni, French and Comorian joint committee's investigations.

It is worth to mention that the Yemenia Airways Airbus A310 jetliner flying from Yemen to the Comoros Islands with 153 people on board crashed last June off the coast of Moroni Islands after hitting bad weather.

The accidents caused the death of 152 passengers and left only one survivor of a 14-year-old girl.

Military operations suspended in north

SANA'A, Sep. 04 (Saba) – The Yemeni government has announced suspension of the military operations against the Houthi rebels in Saada and some parts of Amran in northern Yemen.

The suspension is to start at 9 pm Friday.

The move comes, according to a security source, in response to calls of relief organizations to allow in aid for the war-affected people and commitment of the rebels that they will stop committing destructive acts and fighting the troops, the people and their properties.

The rebels also announced they will eliminate landmines, barriers and end sniper attacks.

Germany grants €500,000 for Saada displaced people

SANA'A, Sep. 04 (Saba) -a German Ministry of Foreign has announced about €500,000 as humanitarian aid for displaced people fled from Saada conflict, northern Yemen, Newsyemen website has reported.

The Ministry said that the aid intends to provide the displaced people with safe water, secured shelters, medicines and other stuffs to be delivered through the International Committee Red Crescent (ICRC) and other humanitarian organizations.

The United Nations (UN) has suggested the Yemeni government for ceasing fire for several hours a day in the northern governorate of Saada in an attempt to enable relief organizations to provide the war-affected people with aid.

The UNDP representative in the country Pratibha Mehta has called the two parts to work to provide safe routes to allow in relief materials for thousands of people.

Pop legend Jackson laid to rest

Michael Jackson, the iconic singer who died from a drug overdose more than two months ago, has been laid to rest at a ceremony in Los Angeles attended by family and celebrities.

Tight security kept fans, reporters and even aircraft away from Friday's private burial service held at Glendale's Forest Lawn cemetery.

Jackson joins a long list of famous stars including Hollywood icons Walt Disney, Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn and Clark Gable who have also been buried there.

The service had been due to begin at 02:00GMT but was delayed by an hour as his family, travelling in a procession of 31 limousines and cars, arrived late.

Among about 200 guests present at the funeral were actress Elizabeth Taylor, child star Macaulay Culkin and Jackson's ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley.

Final farewell

Jackson's final resting place is a crypt in Forest Lawn's Great Mausoleum, a vast, mock-Renaissance building on the stately property.

The late pop star's coffin was driven to the ceremony shortly after his family arrived for the private event.

The singer - who sold millions of albums worldwide with hits such as "Thriller" and "Billie Jean" - died of a drug overdose on June 25 in what the Los Angeles county coroner later said was a homicide.

Officials said a cocktail of prescription medication, including the powerful anaesthetic propofol and sedative lorazepam, were the primary causes of his death.

Police have investigated several doctors who treated Jackson, focusing on Conrad Murray, his personal physician, who was at his bedside when he suffered a heart attack in a rented Los Angeles mansion.

Murray was hired by concert promoter AEG Live in the weeks before Jackson's death to watch over him as he rehearsed for a series of comeback concerts in London, scheduled to start in July.

Police have said they will seek criminal charges in the case but so far officials have not filed any.

The Jackson estate has said it will reimburse the Glendale Police Department for its expenses, estimated at up to $150,000.

The cost of the memorial service, estimated $1.4m, was absorbed by the city of Los Angeles.

Police capture weapon with Somali fishermen off Mahrah coast

MAHRAH, Sept. 03 (Saba) - Coastguards Authority have captured weapons with five Somali fishermen off al-Ghaidah coast of Mahrah governorate.

A source at the Interior Ministry said that the five Somali, aged between 21 – 35, were arrested while they were in their fishing boat, possessing machine guns, RPG shells, explosives and ammunition. The Somali fishermen were sent to the competent prosecution to complete the legal procedures.

On the other hand, security bodies have arrested about 107 African immigrants from Nigeria, Chad and Sudan

The immigrants were sent to jail in Hodeidah governorate, security sources said, adding that two of them were normally died.

Worth mentioning is that the island has received last month more than 500 African immigrants most of them are Sudanese. Investigations revealed that they were attempting to sneak to Saudi Arabia.

UN calls for collecting $ 23.5 million for Saada war affected people

SANA'A, Sept. 03 (Saba) - The Untied Nation has called for collect $23.5 million to help over 150,000 Internally Displaced People (IDP) affected by war in Saada governorate, north Yemen, the weekly 26 September reported on Thursday.

"The emergency aid will provide food and shelter to over 150,000 people, who have been displaced by recent fighting in the north", the UN's Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs John Holmes said in a press conference held in Geneva Wednesday.

The UN has agreed to establish about 38 aid projects, according to Holmsm, who adds that the call will assist us to provide the IDP with urgently needed food, shelter, health supplies and safe water.

Holmes has said that Yemeni government had suggested cease-fire in war area of Saada governorate but it was rejected by the rebels.

"Holmes added that UN didn't start any kind of negotiations with al-Houthi rebels, warned over the humanitarian situation in Saada.

It is estimated that there are about 150,000 IDP in northern Yemen, including 95,000 people affected by previous fighting and some 55,000 affected by more intense combat over the past two months.
